AAPSO: establishment, history, headquarters, and members
The Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organisation, known by its acronym AAPSO, is an independent non-governmental international organisation with a prestigious historical standing.
Establishment and history
The founding conference of the organisation was held in Cairo from 26 December 1957 until 1 January 1958. At the second conference, held in Conakry, Guinea, in 1960, the current name, the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organisation, was adopted.
The permanent headquarters of the organisation was established in Cairo, Egypt, and its first president was the late President Anwar El Sadat.
Membership
The number of current full members stands at 90 countries, including China, Japan, Russia, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco.
In addition, 17 countries hold associate membership, representing the nations of Latin America, bringing the total to 107 member countries.
